Hi there

Here's some more detail on these fellas - grow to about 12" and prodigious breeders if they get the opportunity. Bigger the tank the better, but well behaved in a community tank - mine share with Corys and Danios and nobody goes missing. Vigorous gravel shifters/sand diggers. No point keeping real plants cos they get ripped up all the time - I changed to silk ones instead and still find them being moved all over the tank.

The eye stripe is evident when in breeding condition - the pic under my name on the left shows my female with a couple of fry if you look close.

Size: In their native waters, about 30 cm. About half that in captivity

is this for the male aswel, they only reach 6 " in a tank?
