I have just recieved a secondhand fishtank from someone whose husband died and she knew nothing about fish. So, all she has done is fed the fish for a year. I now have all the equipment and the 3 remaining fish inside it. This is where the problem starts. There are 2 species of fish, one clown loach and 2 other fish. What are they?

hard to tell from a dorsal view.

Yeah, sorry for the poor quality pics, they're currently in a washing-up bowl so it's hard
Apparently they are loaches of some sort, but they don't look like kuhlis.

Thinking about it, it looks a lot like Nemacheilus barbatulus the European Stone Loach, but that's a coldwater river fish from Britain & mainland Europe.

Weird, it was in a freshwater tropical tank before i got it.

it's looks like a full grown chinese algae eater, gyrinocheilus aymonieri.

we had a full grown in the shop a while back and had the same patterns as yours.

if you could gets ome side views that would be the decider.

Yeah, I think Paul's right, he's confirmed my suspicians in my first post. That's a CAE.

Hmm, one is 3inch and the other is 1.5

i would go for the algae eater, i wasn't sure on when there patterns and colour came out so i said full grown!!

I had a CAE and he was easily 10" when he died. I had him for 3 years.
