Yeah, sorry for the poor quality pics, they're currently in a washing-up bowl so it's hard
Apparently they are loaches of some sort, but they don't look like kuhlis.
 
kinda looks like my algae eater but the head is different to hard to tell from that shot
 
Thinking about it, it looks a lot like Nemacheilus barbatulus the European Stone Loach, but that's a coldwater river fish from Britain & mainland Europe.

Weird, it was in a freshwater tropical tank before i got it.
 
it's looks like a full grown chinese algae eater, gyrinocheilus aymonieri.

we had a full grown in the shop a while back and had the same patterns as yours.

if you could gets ome side views that would be the decider.

are these all pics of the 3inch one?

i would go for the algae eater, i wasn't sure on when there patterns and colour came out so i said full grown!!
