Fish Id Please

Back for another ID...

Adopted two barbs from a guy getting out of the hobby. He says ones a golden barb, the other a ruby barb.

But the ruby barb doesn't look at all like one imo; but then again I don't know much about barbs.

He's really red with very flowy fins.

Sorry I know, not the best of pics... Anyways they will be going in together with tiger barbs. I thought this would be ok but now due to his flowy fins I'm worried.

He should be ok, he is a Male Longfinned Rosy Barb. They can generally give as good as they get, but do keep a good eye on them...

If they do well, you will want to get a couple more friends for them both...

Both these barb species are sub-tropical (Rosy, Golden/Chineese) and will do much better at <20C (68F), amazing colouration in the male Rosy. If they are not already, they should both reach ~7/8cm.

+1 MBOU. My Serpae Tetras have fins that look irresistable to a nipper but my Tigers don't bother any of their tankmates. My Rosy Barbs really enjoy their gang of 8.

Well I keep the tank a little on the colder side (70) so glad this temp is good for them.
