The one on the left looks like a Melanochromis cyaneorhabdos Maingano. But I'm not sure...

ohh yeah sorry i know the guy on the left lol...i need the other one on the right...but while were at it what do u think is the gender of the maingano

The other fish is a Pseudotropheus Socolofi. Sexing is tricky with these guys but the males tend to have a stronger blue colouration so i would say yours is probably female.

The Cyaneorhabdos is almost certainly male.

why is one of my maingano's so black???

i dont think this is a maingano now that i look closer...hmmm

also...i have another maingano that i know is a maingano...that is a lot lighter than the maingano above...and it also has no eggspots...does this mean its female?

It's definitely a Maingano, probably just a poor strain - it happens sometimes.

The lighter coloured fish will almost certainly be a female Maingano - that is the distinct difference between males and females of the species.
