Can;t help you, but i can turn your 90% sure to 100% sure on the fact that it is not a red tail shark

Not a red tailed shark for sure. I just read an article on this fish very recently and I digging through my magazines to find it. I think it is a 'black shark' but that sounds way too easy. I know that it is just a bala shark but black and it sort of hard to find. I think they get pretty big as well. I will post again when I find it.

hmmm, I finally gave up and did a yahoo image search for a black shark and it looks like they have that exact same fish posted on another fish forum 'member's profile' for black shark. Ironic, huh? So, yes, it is a black shark. Labeo chrysophekadion, and it gets to be just a little short of two feet long.

and from what i can recall, it gets pretty aggressive (unlike a bala). not at all friendly to other sharks.

i suggest digging around in Cyprinids, Characins and Atherinids for more info.

Bala sharks arnt agressive its red tail black sharks that are! The fish in the pic is a black shark, they need masses of filteration and they get massive. Like 1/2 a meater or bigger!!!

Yea I've seen a shark like that before posted somewhere on here, its a black shark. They get huge like everyones said so convince your parents to get a MUCH larger tank for him. Also I love red tail sharks and have been doing research on them and everything and I knew right away that that wasnt one.

I figured as much but they claim he had a red tail before and he just lost it because he matured. /boggle

Thank you guys for the help.

black shark minnow that is. he will grow up to look like a carp but thankfully not as big...almost. he will most probably be timid and should be in the tank by himself as he will kill most other fish.
