Fish Id Please, Should Be A Jd!

Hi guys.
I finally got my JD the other day, or so I think, the guy in the LFS said it was, but I have been unable to find any pics of juveniles to reference against.

I took a few pics, and got two very different results

He normally looks like this, and is what made me have some doubts, he looks a bit like a rainbow cichlid.

I also got this one, and swear on my life its the same fish

100% Jack Dempsey. In the first pic he has lost his colourful because he is being shy or stressed. Mine would change colour all the time.

All cichlids lose/gain colour depending on mood etc

Until I took this picture today I have never seen him that colour, he was in his cave, though I had been chasing him for a half hour or so with the camera previously, he is awfully shy at the minute, very skittish, I thin khe needs more cover to swim in/through.
