Hello there, I brought these guys from a fish swap when they were around .75 inches to an inch. They where sold to me as "blue peacock cichilds." As they started to grow, the males started to get blue but also orange. When they where sold to me, the picture just showed a plain blue peacock cichild. If you guys can help me ID this guy, that be great.

The picture show the same male peacock.

the top one looks a bit like a Maleri gold peacock
The middle one looks like a blue peacock
the third pic has lots of fish in it so not sure which one you want identified :)

Peacock cichlids are often thrown into a tank together and sold as blues. There is also the problem of people buying one and thinking it is a blue and then breeding it with something else. Then the whole lot just get mixed up and no-one knows what is what.

hello. i would say the first picture is that of a red emperess peacock......any takers?

also, i would say the "brown" fish, are sunshine peacocks (female)......

Sorry to confused you guys, the fish in the first, second, and third are all the same fish. The reason for the 3rd picture was, I wanted to show a tank shot of him. In the third one, he's the one with the blue face, and yes, that is a red empress on the bottom left in the third picture. He's just starting to get his color. (should see him now :) Those are OB cichlids in the 3rd picture too, there's 3 of them and the plain one looks like a female. Thank for the responses so far. I guess I should of also told you guys that I brought other peacock cichlids too.
