Fish Gone Awol.......!

bought 6 danios the other day....... only have 2 left!!!!


and i dont know where the other 4 have gone??!!!!

they arnt floating/hiding etc... no-one can get them out the tank...

im thinking the filter???

what other fish have you got in the tank with the danios

also when i had danios in the past if one dies they will strip the body quite to almost nothing in a night
also are you sure that you never left the lid open even when feeding cos if you did i would have a look behind the tank on the floor cos they are notorious for jumping

When did you last see all the fish together?

i would have a good look inside the filter cos even though the filter is working ok there still might be mushed danio in there and it might need a clean out in tank water
also if you have plants in there use the end of your net and move them around gently without disturbing them -- you might find some remains in the plants .

I always use the end of the net for most things like that cos saves getting your hands in the tank too much

Have you tested your tank today to see if you have any peaks at all cos that could mean you have bodies decaying in the tank ?

even the most peaceful of fish will have a nibble on a dead fish's body. i would suggest the fish have died but they have been eaten.

hi - ive tested everything in the tank today - everythings normal!

very strange! no bodies anywhere!!

thers 2 danios left now and one dosent look that healthy......

just sitting ont he bottom.... i think theres something wrong with them tbh.....

the plecs are fine,,,,

n mr 'dave george' the sucker fish is fine too!

TBH I think danios are just as sensitive as neons, either that or we've been unlucky, ive read a few posts on here of dying danios

I started with 10 (tank fully cycled, levels fine etc) zebra danios and i'm down to 5, havent lost one for about 2 months now (tank is 5months old)

no other deaths/problems in the tank

wasnt there before - my eyes arnt the best but its not that bad!!! seems to be getting bigger??

What do you have for decor in your tank??? are there any spots in the decor a fish could get stuck??? Only asking cus they are gone no sign and I had a similar issue in my ten gallon and it turned out one of my ornaments had a way for the fish to get into but they couldnt turn them selves around in would get stuck and would die.

Just a thought, let me know im curious.

Have you look inside your filter yet? What type of top to you have on your tank? Is there a space big enough that they could have jumped out? Maybe check on the floor or behind the table or whatever they are on.... or maybe.. do you have cats?
