I need some help brainstorming fish for a very small tank, 28L (I THINK around 7 - 10 gallons but I'm so horrible with gallons) with a filter chamber in the back of the tank (like a NANO tank). Betta is on my list of possible fish, they're very beautiful but it would be fun to have a few more on the list to choose from.

I am still in the process of doing some research about the tank as I have no experience really with the brand so at the moment I can't really provide any proper information about the filter's capacity but hopefully someone can help me get the mind thinking! This is not my tank but since I keep Angel fish myself it would be great if there were any fish this size that is at least a bit social toward humans.

In a tanks that small you could keep one Betta some shrimp and some snails or you could divide it and have 2 Betta fish, and also you could have some micro rasboras if you don't want a betta

Have you had a Betta? I have only really seen them "live" kept in small, small glass containers and never in a tank where they could swim etc so I really don't know what kind of fish it is. What about a male and a female?

You cant put a male n female Betta together (unless theyre breeding) cuz they will fight. Not sure of what else you can add, I never owned a NANO tank and the smallest tank I have right now is 40L, maybe pygmy cories?

Ouch, yeah, I googled it and read that too, that would just be dumb. I've never had a tank this small either, I'm setting it up for my sister so I won't be the one taking care of the fish or enjoying the fish but I get to make sure that at least the the start of it is good.
Betta would be lovely to keep if they are somewhat active.. I am scared of ending up with fish that just.. exist in the tank.

If you can find an active aggressive and brightly colored Betta he will definitely stand out, he will flare at a mirror, swim everywhere, and stand out, trust me bettas are great fish I have 5 tanks just for them and I love them soo much they are great fish and have there own personality

+1 Bettas can be quite active in the right conditions/set-up. They have quite a personality. Bettas are one of those fish I gotta have again one day.

Bettas are perfectly active if they are given 'me' time, they love attention! i keep half my males near my computer and every time i am sat there (and only me no one else) there out and about trying to get my attention
