Hi, I've just got a 48litre(10gallon) tank and I haven't kept fish for about 10 years when I was a kid and I seem to remember having alot of problems with them dying last time I kept them - so I was wondering which fish I can keep.

I'm looking at getting maybe two shoals of small fish (maybe 6 of each) - maybe Neon Tetras and Zebra Danios, maybe two gurammis and a couple more different fish, is this realistic in my size of tank? I was also looking at maybe a siamese fighting fish, but I dont know if they would kill my other fish, or what fish might fight it - any help would be appreciated

you need to look at our Beginners Resource Centre, at the top of this forum.

Once your tank is cycled you should have alot less, if any problems when it comes to stocking.

in a 45L tank, space is going to be limited, a group of danio's would work okay, but are rather skittish. Neons prefer a mature tank, as they're sensitive to differing water chemisty.

You could have a group of small fish and a group of cories in there though.

I've left my heater on all evening, the temperature on the themometer says 24celcious, but I stuck my finger in and the water doesn't really feel too much warmer than my goldfish tank downstairs, is this right?
