Hello everyone!

I am currently cycling my 10 gallon tank (nearly done!) which I plan to put my male betta fish in. I was hoping to put a few more fish in there as well, i'm interested in balloon mollies, otos and harlequin rasboras mostly. I'm guessig I cant have them all in there as the tank would be pretty overstocked, so how many other fish would you recommend?

My betta is currently living with an african dwarf frog and doesn't seem aggressive or territorial at all, so i'm hoping he will be OK with new fish. In fact its the adf we're having trouble with (nipping and clawing when food is involved) so we're giving him to my boyfriend's sister.

Also how would be best to introduce the new fish? Should I put my betta in the tank first and then gradually introduce them, or is there a better alternative?

Thanks very much!

I would introduce the betta last, as then he won't have a firm sense of terriatory. However, I've never had a problem with bettas being aggressive to other fish, with the exception of when I had a red-tail black shark in with Oz. They didn't get on, LOL.

A group of otos or pygmy corys would be cool, and you could have a clutch of maybe green neon tetras? Much smaller than neons but still very pretty.

Ah good advice on introducing the betta last! How about balloon mollies and pygmy corys? My boyfriend's really got his heart set on the balloon mollies, and the pygmy corys do look lovely.

Balloon Mollies get too big for a 10g and I think they prefer brackish water.

Try showing your boyfriend Platys and Guppies - they're also livebearers and come in many more colours.

Guppies and Platys look very pretty but apparently they're likely to nip at the bettas fins..? Would I just be better off getting a group of pygmy cories do you think? There seems to be a problem with most other fish and bettas and/or the tank size!
