I've probably already made something similiar but i cant find it and i still cant figure it out. Is there anyway to make the fish flakes not float but sink? Cuase my bottom dwellers ( sharks and other fishes) dont get the food, since all the mid and top swimmers eat it before it goes down is there a way to put it like down there?

You could take your finger and push it down or sooner or late the bottom dwellers will get hungry enough to go to the middle of the tank and get the food, or you could get wafers if they would eat it.

So they wont like die if they dont eat for 3 days?

And I would think before that 3 to 4 weeks is up they'll start going to the middle to get their food. Would they eat those sinking wafers?

Most bottom dwelling fish will eat sinking wafers and pretty much anything edible they can find lying on the bottom...

Try pinching some flakes .. like say, 10ish between your thumb and forefinger. Stick the pinch of flakes under water, and slowly release your fingers. The pinched flakes should float to the bottom as a big clump. Used to feed my loach like that, untill I came to the conclusion that fish flakes are horrible water foulers. Now I use those mini pellets. The fish love 'em, and the tank's never stayed cleaner.

I like the pellets as well. Not only are they cleaner than flake, they can be dropped with wicked accuracy into a shy fish's hiding spot (be sure to account for water current  )

I use both flakes and sinking pellets. I put them both in at the same time so while the tetras and angels are eating the flakes at the top, the SAEs and corys can get the pellets on the bottom.

Also, you can wait till about 30 minutes after the lights go out to feed the sinking pellets or wafers. That way most of the mid and top level fish are less active so the bottom feeders (especially nocturnals like corys) have a better chance.

for the flake food if you have a syringe just put a little flake in a bowl with some tank water ..suck it up with syringe.. flakes sink to bottom real quick...then you can put some dry on top for mid and top dwellers...this way you don t have to throw away
flke food until you get waffers :S

Can somebody give a brand name for recommended tropical pellets available in the UK?

Am currently feeding flake to my fishes which came with the tank, because that was their accustomed food.

I have returned to fishkeeping after a long break, and did not know there were such things as pellets, although pleco discs did come with the package for the bristle-nose catfish.

Thank you.

I give my fish Tetra prima complete food (little orange granuals) and a new type from king british called mini sinking pellets and also catfish pellets.

The wafers I use are Tetra variety wafers.

hope this helps.

Thank you, Big Mick, will keep a look out for these. I prefer to ask for recommendations rather than just picking something up off the shelf! :)
