Hi,

I have a 35 gallon tank - with the following fish 6 Neon Tetras 4 Platties 3 Mollies and 1 Siamese fighter.

All are well at present and have had tank for around 3/4 Months

The first question I have is - How important would you say that it is to provide the above fish with live food - at the moment I am just providing a flake diet but have just bought the Siamese fighter in particular and most have said "Prefered live food".

Second question is - how essential is it to use a gravel cleaner? At the moment I am just using plastic tubing to suck up the water but obviously all the waste will go to the bottom tank so is this enough?

I clean my tank at least once a week and think I have quite good water quality according to the information I have read on here and else where, but was just wondering what other people do/think.

Many Thanks

you should always provide a balanced diet, i feed, mostly flake, then about 2x a week frozen bloodworm/brine shrimp, and 1x a week some fresh pea's... i dont feed live foods for the fear of parisites.. i think frozen does the job well, plus its cheap too :)

i also clean the tank every week, i do a 30% water change and gravel vac, and then wash the sponges in OLD TANK WATER, every 2 weeks

good luck

I take it you can find all these foods in tropical shops as have only ever seen flake food.

My Siamese is male
