Okay, this morning when I got up I heard a slight thud. I got up to investigate and found out that my Senegal Bichir had jumped out of my aquarium!!! The tank was on my dresser, so the bichir fell about 6'7" before hitting the floor, which was carpet. I scooped him up and placed him back in the tank. He seemed okay, just a little fuzzy from the carpet, but that came off after a while. Is there anyway that I can manage his stress levels, so he doesn't die??

I'm just greatful that my cats didn't find him before I did, or that fish would've been a gonner!

Thanks for all the help!

what a silly fish

im sure he will be fine, just keep a close eye on him

i think to help keep stress levels down keep the volume down around the tank and keep the lights off if you can - obviously no good if its planted.
hope he's ok

xXx

Along with whats been mentioned already make sure your oxygenation is optimal, when stressed fishes gill function increases (as we breath harder when stressed) i also give some sort of treat (defrosted prawn usually) if a fish seems seriously stressed, in a attempt to perk them up a little.

You can also try checking the water params, and if water changes don't stress out your fish (some do enjoy them after all) you could give him some nice clean water as well.

use stress zyme. it will relieve stress and help him build up his slime coat that he lost on the carpet and on your hands.

i honestly wouldnt be overly worried about the stress too much,, maybe less lighting and noise around the tank but im sure he will still be alright. I had an opaline gourami jump out and flopped off my dresser aswell and he had been there so long he and the floor dried out completely but he lives to the day perfectly fine.

I wouldn't use this stuff personally, it can create an excessive amount of slime on the fish which isnt natural. The best way to relieve stress is put the tank lights out and cover the whole thing with a large towel, they cant see out and get spooked and no one can see in thus spooking them.
