I have a 20 gallon tank with, at the moment. 3 guppies, 2 neon tetra, 1 male beta, 1 cory catfish and 1 zebra loach. When I fed them last night there was a hundred or so what looked like fish eggs on the bottom of the tank. They were gone in this morning? Iknow it was not the guppies and none of the other fish have mates. It had to be the catfish or loach. Any ideas? Thanks Mike --- Thanks everyone, I think we have a winner Tetra eggs, most if not all have been eaten by the other fish. ---

Based on the size of the eggs and a process of elimination I would vote for neon eggs. Males do not produce eggs so that means it isn't the Betta. And since the guppies are live bearers, it isn't them. A cory cannot produce that many eggs so that eliminates it. Zebra loach does not breed in captivity and usually it requires using hormones. But that doesn't men a female zebra wont produce or expel eggs without a male. They can produce 100 eggs easily. But I would bet it wasn't the zebra either, assuming it is female.

So that leaves the neon which will definitely eat their own eggs. So they are the most logical choice, imo. If you are interested in trying to get neon fry and raise them, you need to do a bit of research on how to deal with spawns so the eggs are not just lunch.

(edited to change beer to breed)

Thank you for the info.

Neon eggs are sticky as well. But most would sink to the gravel if there is nothing in the way and they do not contact something to which they might stick. Some might get pushed bu current onto the glass? Fish will eat eggs off of the glass.
