We have 'jewel' fish with our oscars...and they laid eggs, they are very protective of them, then they got Ich, now they are cured and have since laid another batch. The first batch, however, the mom or dad started eating them a week or so after they were laid. Anyone have some tips on that? They were/are so protective, then they all of the sudden eat them? We want babies!
If you had to treat for ich while the eggs were there chances are the medication either stressed out the parents enough to make them eat the eggs or the meds made the eggs not viable and the parents cleaned up the mess. For some pairs it takes a few trys to get it right - some of them need lots of privacy.
