Is it normal for eggs to be completely white when they are first laid (like within the first 30 mins of being laid)

This is story with my Krib pair just now, the male is acting like any other male and looks like he's fertilising them. The have been laid on the outside of a terracota plant pot

I dont remember any other of my cichlid eggs to be white like this, straight from the off? But then again, whenever i've actually seen it happen there and then, its been INSIDE a pot on not on the outside.

Can they start of white and then turn brown? I always thought they start off brown, then only turn white if they are not fertilised.

i dont know about kribs but some eggs are laid white, betta eggs are white.

yeh it does........ i got the same ruler LOL

thanks for the link, interesting, i cant really tell to be honest, if i had my camera out i would take some pics, i'll try and post again tomorrow and see what colour they gone to, i can get a real good view, the pot is right by the side of the tank, about 1" from the glass
