I had 5 fish in my tank at one point. One is a pink widow, 2 are the little ones that keep the tank clean (looks like a mini crocodile) and I don't know what the other 2 are (although they are the same kind of fish). I've posted a pic so you can see. Sorry, you'll have to forgive me, I don't know much (if anything) about fish.

I have had my pink widow for over 2 years now and had the 2 little crocodile ones for over a year and all seemed fine until I introduced the new fish (the bluey coloured ones that I don't know the name of). When we first got the blue ones, my widows and the little crocodile fish seemed so lively, it was almost as if they were really happy for the extra company. Anyway, a couple of months later, I looked at my tank and there was a half eaten blue fish floating at the top. Then on Friday, one of my crocodile fish was dead. It was at the bottom of the tank, almost in a standing position. Then the other day I noticed that my pink widow had some red that looked like blood near its tail. I've looked again today and half of its tail is now missing.

I'm confused because I got all of these fish from a good garden centre which has an aquarium section and all of the fish I got were supposed to be friendly fish and able to get along with others. Is anyone able to give me any advice? On the pic of my angel fish, you can actually see a little bit of the red, although it looks more of a dark pink in that pic, whereas in reality it is red.

Hi in the pic there is a dwarf gourami,
where is the angel pic?
do you have pics of the crocodile fish? these sound like chinese algae eaters which can get aggressive as they mature,

Do you test your water at all? if so do you have any water stat results at hand,
Also can you post the size of tank you have and a list of all of the inhabitants?

Need more info like dave has asked for.
Size of tank in gallons or litres.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
How long was the dead fish in the tank.
Fish can get desease if they peck at a body of a dead fish.
Red Edging to tail is septicemia and hard to cure once it progresses.

It's hard to get a fish of my crocodile looking one because it is always hiding but I've googled chinese algae eaters and that's what it is.

Sorry, I keep calling the pink widow an angel fish for some reason!!

I can't remember what litre my tank is but it's measurements are 20W x 15H x 7D - that is the measurement of the glass only, therefore doesn't include the lid.

I haven't done any tests of my tank, we just do 25% water changes every week.

Can't be sure how long the dead fish was in the tank for. I don't think it was in there for any longer than 4 hours. I came home from work late that night and I know it wasn't there in the morning, my husband got in at 5pm and he didn't notice it so it could be any time between 5pm and 9pm. We removed it as soon as we saw it.

The only fish in my tank are:

1 Dwarf Gourami
1 Pink Widow
1 Chinese Algae Eater

Any advice much appreciated.

There aquarium calculator at the top of the forum put the measurements in there to see how many gallons your tank is.
I would add a bacterial med.
Anti internal bacteria med by interpet.

Sorry to disagree again wilder but id make sure is internal parasite, she says one fish had half tail missing which could suggest yes another fish has attacked it but also could suggest fin rot. more info is needed on the water etc before just chucking in a med which could make situation worse and also if you add the med and next day find out its wrong medication you then have to wait between 24 to 48 hours before you can add the right stuff.(not trying to say your wrong but if my fish id not jump in too quick with meds)

Never said it was internal parasites.
Red edging to tail is usually septicemia.
Still need treating if there is red edging even if it is fin nipping.
Would help if the poster would give us the info asked for.
