Hey, all!
It's been a loooooong time since I've been here. I still see some familiar names around here
Anyway, I've started having problems with my tank and thought maybe somebody could help. I have a 29-gallon tank, complete with sand live plants, that I've had up for, oh, at least three years. A few weeks ago, my tank inhabitants consisted of two angels, eight or so old (three years plus) Neons, a Siamese Algae Eater (true SAE), an Oto, and five Kuhlis. Filter is an Eheim 2213 (which probably needs cleaning). Water changes are done sporadically. I add water when it needs it. Fish got fed a few times a week.
A couple weeks ago I removed the angels and gave them to a friend. I want Rams again and when I had rams before, they didn't do well with the angels. Then I added the yoyo loach (I'd had him for quite some time, he was just in another tank - no problems in that tank). A couple weeks later, I bought some new plants and nine new neons. I got the neons at PetCo (I don't need a lecture on PetCo/PetSmart - I've gotten fish there before, they've been fine, and the fish in the tank I purchased from and the tanks around it looked healthy). I purchased a few plants there and a few at another fish store I've done business with before.
A day or two after I added the new fish and plants, I had fish start dying off. The neons were first and they kind of alternated new and old Neons. I've lost six so far - three new ones and the last three of my "old" group. I usually lost one every day or day-and-a-half. I did a partial water change at some point. Then the yoyo loach died (or maybe the oto was next). Then the Oto. Today I found my SAE dead. The kuhlis are the only unaffected ones thus far.
I've looked at the dead fish - I don't see anything unusual. No fuzziness, no weird spots, no odd blotches. They're just dead. All of the remaining fish look fine. No spots, no fuzzies, nothing. A couple of the neons were swimming around funny before they died, but it was more like the "I'm almost dead" swim, rather than anything that looked like something (clear as mud?).
Anyone have any ideas? Temp of the tank is probably around 78* F. It's not near a window, not under an air conditioner. I haven't sprayed any chemicals in the house recently, no painting going on. I've had fish for four or five years now and have not had this happen. I've had ich, I've had parasites, and other interesting stuff, but nothing like this.
Any thoughts/ideas/suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks!

little fishies
I would wait and see if Wilder replies and if not then post in the emergency section. Very sorry to hear about your fish losses, just lost one today myself. Good luck.
