My brother has a 4 foot tropical tank, containing
1 Plec
1 Black Ghost Knife Fish
1 Male Guppy
3 Female Guppies
1 Male Swordtail
1 Femail Swordtail
1 Khuli Loach
4 Rainbow Fish
2 Red Line Torpedos
2 Clown Loaches which have white spot, the tank is being treated and the spots seem to be disappearing
Last Friday he added 1 torpedo, 4 Silver fin sharks and 4 Congo tetras.
On Sunday the sharks died suddenly with no symptoms apart from a red mark the same as on the Torpedo in the photo below. He has frozen one of the dead sharks so we could take a photo.
Tank size: 4ftx1ftx1ft
pH: 7
ammonia: not been tested at home but water was tested at shop and no problems were found
nitrite: normal
nitrate: normal
kH: normal
gH: normal
tank temp: 26degC
Fish Symptoms (include full description including lesion, color, location, fish behavior): The only symptom is the red mark which appears gradually a few hours before they die.
Volume and Frequency of water changes: 1 20% water change in the last 2 months
Chemical Additives or Media in your tank:
King British Safe Water-contains natral micro-organisms
King Britsh Safe Guard-contains Sodium Thiosulphate, EDTA, Sodium Sulphite
5 teaspoons of salt
WS3 White spot treatment-malachite green, acriflavine, quinine sulphate
Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong and/or aything he could do to prevent more fish dying? I will post photos tomorrow.
