I just thought I’d share this with you guys, since nobody in my family would be very entertained with it ;p
Last night, I had a weird dream. For the last month or so, I’ve been considering what sort of blue colored fish to put with my cichlids, and I guess my subconscious got overloaded!
I was in a pet store, a small local type, which I’d never been in. They had a vending machine for fish! Put in your money, and out pops a bag with your choice in it. That was weird. The other thing, is they had all their display tanks in a circle, and the “expert” fish keeper was always inside to help anybody with questions. While I don’t remember what I’d asked, or what he said, I do remember that I totally disagreed with it, and wondered why he was even employed.
They also had tanks with plants in them, but there was dye in sections of the gravel to turn the flowers of the plants different colors. Oddly enough, the dye stayed in one place, while leaking up into the water...so the tank looked like it was full with a contained rainbow!
Anyway, here’s the part that fascinated me the most. I was looking at some of the blue types of fish. There was one that I really wanted. It was about 6 inches long, had the face of a pike - complete with sharp teeth! - but the body of a betta/guppy (long and flowing fins). It was a brilliant, deep blue color with an iridescent sheen. I got all interested, then saw a sign that said to absolutely not keep with cichlids!
I suppose that’s from doing all the research I have been, and every fish I’ve liked so far in real life, don’t go well with them. Oh well.
