I have a 30 gallon tank with 30 lbs of live rock and 20lbs of live sand. i have an ocellaris clownfish, yellow tailed damsel and six lined wrasse.
ammonia- 0
nitrite- 0
nitrate- 15
The Wrasse is usally out all the time but yesterday it was no where to be found. today i looked for a body in the rocks but found nothing. tested the ammonia levels came out to be 1.0 ppm. should i just wait it out for the fish to rot in my tank and take the 2 remaing fish out of the tank and into a 10 gal that currently has nothing in it? Thanks for any help

Is your tank covered and did you check the carpet around it? Wrasses are known jumpers and may hav gone carpet surfing

my tank is not covered but i did check around the tank and no wrasse. Also the ammonia levels went down to .30 so i dont know if hes in the rotting cause i would think after 3 days it would start rotting and producing ammonia

Just a wild guess here, but do you have an anemone in the tank for the clownfish? If so, It could be that the aneneome ate your fish but again, pure speculation on my part.

well the first question u should ask is what's ur lighting like? without proper lighting, no anemone in any size tank will not survive, and ur just askin for trouble.

INdeed, gotta have strong lighting, good skimming, and good flowrate for nems

I have a 96 watt compact fluorescent 50/50 and actinic lighting system by coralife. I have a few corals in the tank at the moment. kenya tree coral and some type of zoo's

LOL its funny how this topic got changed to "Will a anemone fit in my tank". MUAH i love TFF. . Yeah I heard that Wrasses bury themselves in the sand. I have a thin layer of sand so nothing can really hide. I need more sand :shifty: .

Thats a decent quality light fixture and will support a lot of different corals. I've seen some carpet nems do just fine under compact flourescent (aka CF or PC) and I've also seen some fail miserably... Its hit or miss with PCs and while you do have a shallow tank with some hefty lighting, its a big risk if you try to proceed. I myself would not put an anemone under anything less than metal halide lighting or a bank of 6 T5s with individual reflectors spanning the tank length.
