hey there,
I have a tropical fish tank which has been running for quite a time (about a year) and everything seemed ok, Until I put some new fish in the tank from a shop in the village and all of a sudden fish started die, Not just like the odd one.
I saw that one had died and thought oh well and took it out and then looked back a few hours after and there is about another 2 fish dead, and this looked quite odd that they had died.
I had about 12 cardinal tetra's in there now about 5 or more have died,a rummy nose tetra and my clown loach. it all started happening after I put the new fish in and I thought maybe the fish had some kind of virus or something on them, also one of the new fish died but 2 are still living, I shall give a list of the fish in the tank incase it could be one of the other fish killing it, I thought it could be the tiger barb killing them.

I have...
about 10 mollys maybe more or less not sure.
Some platys, same again not sure how many.
1 Tiger barb ( I have 2 tanks and I had the barb in my other one at 1st but them moved it over to the other tank as the shark I had there killed 'I think' the other barbs I had)
about 5 cardinal tetra's still living.
Some black widows that have been in there since I set up the tank and some I got half way though.
Also I have some rummy nose tetras
and a few red eye tetras.

Does anyone know or think they know what's happening here?

Thanks,
Lewis

Oh, Forgot to add that I checked the tank and the PH and nitrates and ammonia seem ok.. I don't know what's happening :(

I have exactly the same problem. Put 6 new fish in my aquarium, which already contained 8 fish, now all I have left is three fish. I've had all my water tested for the same things and there is nothing wrong with it.

The fish have just started to show signs of white spot within the last coupe of days and I've been advised to turn the temperature up from 24 to 30 to try to get rid of it, before using any chemical treatments. I have no idea what is wrong with them!

Yeh, I tested all the water and that seemed ok, I'm just wondering if the new fish brought in some kind of fish virus or something.

Did you just put them into the tank?
When I got new fish about a month ago, I just put them into my tank and they died within 1 hour.

Next time you get a fish, follow these instructions.

1. Put the closed bag inside the tank/aquarium for about 15-25 minutes.
2. Open the bag and add water from the aquarium then leave the fish out of the aquarium for about 10 minutes.
3. Add your fish to the aquarium.

If you did that, then I don't know.

Stick to the same thread or its gets comfusing.

If your fish died in an hour you might not of climatised them properly and died of ph shock.
Always test bag water in ph and temp.

Sorry only just noticed the thread was taken and put here from introduction for new members.

I realised I posted in wrong area and moved to emergancy area.

That's ok then.
Some members start new threads on the same thing and it starts to get confusing.
