I got this fish from my friend, "because he was to lazy to clean the tank". When I got it he was maybe 1-2 inches and in a very basic 3 1/2 Gallon Tank. Well he's 5 Plus inches now and I have wanted to get him a new tank for a long time. Felt bad, To small. Well Went to Petco and got a All-Glass 20 Gallon Tank kit , Got it all set up and put him in. He Loves it, But I would kind of like another fish.....That wont be killed. I know that they can live with certain other kinds of their species, but I have no Idea where to get ones that are the same size? Do they Have to be the same size? What Kind of Fish can he be With? Also I kind wanted to get a Lobster Or Crab Or somthing Like that, Can He Co-Exist with somthing like that?..........I dont want to wake up and see the fish floating cut in half and the lobster dancing.....Lol. Help on this would be greatly Appreciated. :good: :good:

Welcome to the forums!

Don't add ANYTHING to your tank. Jack dempseys are aggressive and territorial and a 20 gallon is a small tank. Anything else you put in there will die. It also realy shouldn't be in so small a tank even alone - they get big.

I would suggest reading up on this fish (begin by searching for 'Cichlasoma octofasciatus' on www.google.com )and then asking for more info. in the New World cichldis section of the forum.
