I have a 55 gallon tank running right now and have decorations in there and everything! Im goin to get fish this week and i need help sorting out my ideas...
So far my list includes: This are just ideas....I need more!!!

guppies
blue danio
molly
plecostomus
zebra danio
lepord danio
neon tetra
black neon tetra
buinos aires tetra
rainbowfish
pearl danio
clown fish
corydora
oto
dwarf gourami
ghost shrmp
dojo loach
white cloud minnow

I have to have the first 4 fish in there....I want to have a breeding shoaling groups of fish with maybe 1 pair of dwarf gouamis or "bigger" fish that will not eat the guppies or most of their fry(as well of the other fish)THANKS! :kana: :kana: :D

Er.. your going to have to go into a bit more detail, like what kind of rainbowfish plec and cory?

Also, what do you mean by clownfish? Clown loach? I think most fish will eat fry so make sure you have a well-planted tank to give them some cover.

Many of the fish you meantioned are small shoaling fish so it'd be better to choose to keep one or 2 kinds rather than all.

What kind of tempature is it going to be, what substrate and will there be plants?

I would move the 2 red parrot from your 10g, mollies, and plec from your 6g to the 55g. Just my opinion.

Have fun.

Rainbowfish-donno?
plec- common
cory-bronze? maybe

yes, I mean clown loach...sorry about that!

What kind of tempature is it going to be-uh tropical like 70-76 regular
what substrate-uh you mean like gravel? well i have blue gravel
I have tons of plastic plants in there along with *ruins* and flagstone(is that alright in aquriums)
I have 2 breeeding traps, 1 aquaclear 402 powerhead, and a heater although I live in arizona and I really dont need it
I know that everyfish will eat the fry( even thier parents!) i just want to have a few of the fish in the list above...I really wanted to do something like this:
4 X guppies
2 X silver mollies
7 X blue danios
1 X pleco
i have those already but i also want to get:
16 or 8 X zebra danios
2 X Dwarf Gourami
4 X neon tetras
2 X black neon
2 X buienos Aires tetra
9 X ghost shrimp
and
4 X clown loach
4 X corys
or
4 X algae eaters
or
4 X otos!
crazy i know but Ive been planning this out for over 1 1/2 months now! :D thanks

deffinatly.... you keep 2 parrots in a 10gallon tank?

parrots idealy need between 10and 15 gallons each.

You are currently stocking for about 2 55 gallon tanks. I'm afraid you need to make major cuts in your planned stock. Fortunately, you have chosen pretty much compatible, peaceful fish, which should give you the most choice on what stays.

First, I would suggest taking the pleco back to the store or finding it an alternate home. They get huge and create a lot of waste. One pleco is a LOT of bioload you could be using on other fish. (Sorry plec fans out there.)

I would skip on the additional zebra danios. There are already a lot of upper tank dwellers on your list.

The Buenos Aires Tetra aren't really like other tetra. You could probably still have them, but you will never be able to have real plants. They won't school with the other tetras. And they get kinda big.

And Clown Loaches too are going to get pretty big for that tank. You could fit them, but like the pleco, they would cost you a great deal of bioload. Unless I'm mistaken, they'd also likely make short work of your shrimp.

My suggestions (take or leave as you will):

4 X guppies
2 X silver mollies
7 X blue danios (brachydanio kerri? or blue zebras?)
2 X Dwarf Gourami
4 X neon tetras
4 X black neon
9 X ghost shrimp
6 X corys OR otos
1 X Siamese algae eaters

That still may be a little overstocked. What filter are you using?

Not only that but otos preper live plants and SAE should be kept in pairs/groups IMO. I also don't think I'd put 4 clown loaches in that size tank because of their eventual size.

You need a better ratio of male to female with your livebearers as well to minimise harrassment of the females.

What kind of tempature is it going to be-uh tropical like 70-76 regular

My coldwater tank is at 72F!! I'd not keep tropical fish at any lower than 75F

You'll need more than one SAE as they are a shoaling species.

I love plecos, lets face it, it takes time for them to grow....

Guess I like them because they act so differently from other fish, for starters they dont spend all day hanging round in the water mouthing the word "bob".

Interesting. I'd always heard they do fine alone.

I have two, and other than an occasional squabble over the best hiding spots, they almost completely ignore one another.
Mine don't. Mine are always together!

When I got mine I asked about them being aline and I was told that they should be kept with others. I think that goes for most fish, other than the ones that are territorial with their own kind etc. It's more natural for there to be some fish the same as them around.

Also, mine don't do a lot of hiding. -_-

Not all plecs are commons!! I love plecs too but there's no way I would have a common in any of my tanks, they get far too big and make a lot of mess. That's why mine don't grow any bigger than 5", one will only be about 4".

 Best of both worlds

uh I have an undergravel system and a aquaclear powerhead and I kindarealy want to have guppies, danios. tetras, my plec is baby now and itll take a while for him to get big then Ill sell him... But I also wanted to get a Dwarf Gourami to have in there? Do they get along with smaller fish?

I would say even more, I went to my LFS today and they had two parrots that someone had dumped and they were the size of Oscars.

 sorry for such a late reply -_-

But my LFS has told me that they will take back my parrot fish and my 4 black tetra back9heads up...they killed all my zebra danios and guppies  )
But this is what I have in mind...

Existing:

5 X pearl Danios
4 X Black Fin spotted corys
2 X bronze corys
2 X albino corys

Want to add:

8 X neon tetra or cadinal tetra
4 or 6 X dwarf rainbowfish
4 or 6 X rummynose (have never kept them..are they hard to keep?)

I want to add smaller schooling fish. I have 2 plecos. My baby common(in ym 32 Gallon) and my other baby albino chocolate plecostomus in my 10 gallon with my guppies. I want to add a fancy plecostomus or a pair of bristlenoses...it all depnds on what my LFS has for sale....Does anyone else have any ideas on what to do?
