Hello everyone! I am new to the "pet fish" area. I have a 70 gallon tinted tank with: 1 red tail shark, 4 balas, 5 tiger barbs and 1 gold gourami. I am just wanting to make sure that these guys are all good together. The lady at the petstore was very knowledgeable to what I have kind of seen on the 'net, but I am just making sure because I don't want to lose anymore fish. However, our tiger barbs are chasing our balas and I am not sure if I should be worried or not. We actually had lost 4 columbians about a month ago as it seemed that our Mollies were intimidating and bothering them. Then we lost our 4 Mollies as their tails would get stuck in the crappy filter we had. We do have lots of caves/hiding spots as we didn't want our balas to lose their spot and wanted to give something to the barbs and red tail. The gourami seems to be off on his own in one spot of the tank, and it appears that the red tail is actually "protecting him" from the others which is cute.

4 columbians shark ??

i alway had bad luck with them too

tiger barbs might want to get few more do good in 8 +
mollys i don't like -- seem to die off alot

maybe try swordtails or platies instead

mollies die off alot  wish i could get rid of 3 of mine ther evil and ruin my tank  cant even give them away lol no 1 wants them lol

Another question, in my 10 gallon tank I want to add a bunch of tetras. What kind of algae eater would be good with them?

Tigers will probably calm down once they've established they have no reason to be aggressive.

You need 1 male to maybe 4/5 females. The females usually then keep the male so busy he forgets everything else. Our male (Spike) was very aggressive when he first moved in and we were in the process of setting up a new tank to move him and his girls. Before the new tank was cycled however (about 2 weeks) he suddenly calmed down and has been no bother since.

I think they are full of their own importance and when they realise that nobody else gives a stuff they calm down. :hey: B)

And I feel much the same about Mollies. I bought 3 balloon Mollies - the male died within a day and the two females lasted about a week - and this in an established tank with wonderful water parameters and no aggressive fish.

I'd go for a Bristlenose Catfish. I have two in my community tank and they do a great job of keeping it clean. If you do i'd recommend you get a piece of bogwood for it to call home, and snack on when it feels like it. :)

What kind of Tetras do you plan on getting?

A grown bristlenose is too big and messy for a 10 gallon; otos would be better- shrimps would be best.
