will a copperband BF, yellow longnose BF,blue tang, and a sailfin tang fight in a 125 gallon?

Probably not. I'd be more concerned over what (if anything) the butterflies ate as opposed to aggression in a 6' tank

it says in the matinr fishes book by scott w. michael that the long nosed butterfly usally ignores corals but will eat tube worms and sea urchin tube feet. and the copperband it says an occasional specimen LPS and zoo's. plus at the baltimore aquarium i visited a month ago they had copperbands and long nosed butterflys in reef tanks with corals and other inverts which they passed right by without noticing them, but the 2 fish were in different tanks.

also if i just had those 4 bigger sized fish about how many smaller 2-4 inch fish could i keep also its only a 5' tank now 6' :(

Heh, I'm sure they passed right by them in the multiple thousand gallon tanks at Baltimore. Remember though, your tank is miniscule in comparison to the big ones at the aquarium there (great place btw), and the butterflies have more room to pick and graze at small anemones and sponges which are their main diets. If you saw the butterflies with corals in some of their smaller in-wall tanks, well then I guess they just got lucky and the butterflies didnt like the taste of that coral.

Remember, it comes down to a tradeoff. If the fish wants to, it WILL eat corals you put in there, and if Murphy's Law has anything to say about it, the fish will of course pick the most expensive and stunning polyps you have. Just don't say you weren't warmed :shifty:

haha, with my luck it would pick a $200 coral. thanks for your input I think im going to do more research on them, i have lots of time cause i won't have enough money for the tank till about may :-( i know the copperband has a better chance of picking corals than the LNBF so ill probley just get the LNBF but im still research all the fish before im 100% deside on the fish? At the moment these are the fish im thinking of, BTW the tank is 60x18x25 tall.

blue hippo tang
sailfin tang
yellow longnosed butterfly
flame angel
X2 ocellaris clownfish
X2 yellow tailed damsels
X2bangaii cardinal
X3 green chromis
royal gramma
falco's hawkfish
six line wrasse

do you think this is too maky fish i would think it would be at stocking level or a little over?

I say, take the chance! :shout:

haha the only thing is, if i do take the chance my LFS is gay about returns and only give 50% back so i'd suck to buy a $50 copperband and have it eat my corals and only get $25 back. unless i drive the hour and a half to thatfishplace lol

Looks like an excellent list. Falco Hawks are incredibly awesome.

About the Copperband; Longnosed Butterflys are kind of cooler anyways, so whichever one you decide on will probably work. There is another genus of Butterflyfish that are reef safe; Hemituarichthys... or something along those lines.

yes i agree, the longnosed it cooler so i will probley drop the copperband out. yes i love my falco hawk i got him for $5 :)

I'd ditch the chromis and get a small shoal of Anthias instead if it were my tank :D

i wanted to i like the Lyretail Anthias but it says on liveaquaria that you can only keep one or have a male and a few females but would it be okay to ditch the 3 chromis and add like a male and 3 or 4 female Lyretail Anthias they get like 4 inchs or so

It would be pushing your stocking if you did that but if you had adequate LR and skimming you could prolly get away with it
