Hey guys i'm going from a african setup to a nice colour community tank.
Firstly is community tanks easier to take care of and is there less agression
in the tank?
Secondly what type on fish should i put into my 35 gallon, how many? and what type of plants or ornaments should i have to make it look nice and neat?

well the plants depend on the lighting.

and you can have just about any of the one-two inch general community fish in that tank, it really just depends on what you want.

then we can help decided with numbers and all

edit: it just posted this before I was done, anyways, go through there and pick some fish, then post the ones you like. Avoid the killie fish and bettas though, as they are not community fish, though female bettas can live in a community, it does depend on the fish you have.

i am interested in these types guppies, barbs, bettas, tetras what's a good mix i can do in my 35 gallon?? and what should i put in to make it look nice.

Barbs and bettas are a definate no no, as barbs are serial fin nippers and will terrorize the bettas long tail, as well as the guppies. Not a very good mix there, i wold cancel the betta and go with guppies and tetras for now, that leaves you more options later on. Hope that helps. :)

Not all barbs are nippers. Its only really tiger barbs, and then only if there's not enough to spread out aggression amongst themsleves.

i agree with not having the bettas. Some barbs and a school of neons would be nice. A medium size school of maybe 8 tetras would look really good in the tank. Possibly you could add another bottom feeder to help out the pleco since if im not mistaken bristlenoses only get to be 6 inches or so. Maybe some panda cories or something like that.

To make it look nice and neat i would find plenty of rocks to cover the entire tank and add a few plants here and there. Sand makes the tank look cleaner yet it is more of a pain than gravel to maintain.

what do they look like? , any links on some community tanks? and how to prepare for one.
Also is it any difficult to look after a community tank compare to african cichlids?

no, personally I dont think either are hard to take care, mbun or community, as I have both,

But community fish are just nicer to eachother.
