I have got 4 platys 3 females and 1 male 2 of my females I bielve ar friends, if it is possible for a fish to do so, they have similar personalitys, and are VERY eager eaters, except my gold twin bar (Luna) is more outgoing and my Silver wag/mickey mouse (Stardust) is more timid.

They swim together and eat together, so I assumed they befriended eachother.

Perhaps i'm being wierd and personifying my fish, but perhaps i'm not.

What do you all think?

Well I don't really not the exact truth to your question :dunno: . But I can tell you I have a common pleco and an albino shark that seem to have become friends ;) . They sleep by each other and when they wake up they are not to far from one another. So i'd say that some fish can become friends.

Yeah but there is also 2 other platies so I could see them all hangeing together constantly, which they do prety often but those 2 eat together swim together sleep together, they do go off on their own sometimes though.

I had two oscars in a tank together and removed one because it seemed like it was bullying the other, the remainder seemed to get down in the dumps and i couldnt figure out why. I put another similar sized oscar back in with it and it definitley perked up again.

PS both gone now (started eating tank mates -_- )

Yeah I had a trio of platies, and when two of them died the remaining one would follow my loaches around all day. It was fun watching him think he was a loach! :D

I think fish can be friends. Maybe not on the same level as peeps. But I see my corys hanging out with my common plec. And one day while my bosemanis were playing tag, one of them accidentally ran into angel. I swear the female boesmani stopped playing tag and swam over to angel. She hung out there just long enough to be saying" are you ok? Im sorry"(If she could talk that is) And then she went back to join the game of tag. It was so cute.

when i first started the hobby i accidently kept platies and dwarf puffers together and at first he was a fin nipper but he eventually gave it up and started swimming with them...

Im not telling anyone to mix certain fish with others taht arent dupposed to be together...not a good idea...I was a newbie...im just saying i think its possibe to have them befriend each other. :)

I think fish can become friends :) There's a certain kindredship that blossoms when you live in a box together.

Once upon a time I kept a betta in a community 29 gallon. I also had a skittish gold nugget plec. The betta would do crowd control at night to ensure that the plec would eat in peace, it was funny. I eventually had to remove the betta for his own welfare, he wasn't doing so well in that tank. After doing so...I noticed a dramatic decline in my gn's health. He stopped eating and coming out of his cave at all. He eventually died within a week or 2. Just an example of species intermingling on a friendly level :)

My two oto's seem to be good friends. They stick together and last night they seemed to do curcits(sp) on the glass like there were racing.
