Today I noticed that most of my platys look like the scales on their dorsal side, between their dorsal fin and their eyes, are becoming transparent. I also noticed on one of my danios, the same thing is happening. All are acting normal-eating fine, swimming regularly. My ammonia and nitrites are both at 0. Could this be caused by somefish picking at them and removing scales? I don't see any bite marks, and any "chunks" missing. It doesn't look like there is any kind of external "thing" on them (like a slimy coat, or a waxy build-up). I have an idea of a culprit if it is another fish inflicting this, but I want to rule out a disease first. Thanks.

what fih is in the tank
what size is it
have they got any fluffy stuff on them or is it like a wound

65 gallon with mollys, platys, kuhli loaches, krib, a young firemouth, and a young blue acara (which is my primary suspect). And let me precurse my selection with the fact that I was aware that the acara and firemouth could become problems.

Like I stated before, there is no external mass on the fish, like fluffy stuff, slime or wax. And there are no wounds to the fish.

I added Melafix and Pimafix just to prevent any secondary problems, along with a 40% water change. I think the acara will be going back tomorrow. I found nothing on any diseases that match what the fish have.

Anyone have any other ideas? I really hate giving this guy up.

Maybe... fins are getting munched on, and the transparent fins are the fins growing back.. maybe.

The fins aren't the invisible part...it's the actual body of the fish that have lost the color.
