Hi, I have two small fry in a breeding net at home, I think they're mollies but they're so tiny I can't be sure yet. I have a couple of questions about them:

1. How often should I feed the fry, and is there anything special I should give them? So far I've given them a crushed flake (I only found them yesterday.)

2. Should I put anything else in the breeding net, such as a leaf or something to give them a bit of shelter?

3. How long should I keep them in the breeding net?

Thanks!

Fry need feeding little and often so I would feed them 3-4 times a day but be sure to clear up any food they don't eat each time. Crushed flake is fine.

A leaf would give them some cover so yep good idea.

Keep them in the breeding net till they are too big to fit into the mouths of any of the other fish in the tank.

Hope this helps :)

Good place to look for this info would be the Common Livebearers section, which has tips and hints on the ways to raise your fry.

A breeding net is only a stopgap measure, if its a large brood they will fast outgrow it. For maximal growth baby brine shrimp are a favourite of fry. Any cover you place in the net they will love you for, so get a plant or something in there. Basically you need to separate them from the adults until they are larger than the adults mouths(cant be swallowed). Dont forget to do regular water changes, this is essential for fry.

Hope this helps
