Good day,

its a bad moment for me. SOmething happend with my 2 clowns, today I got back from work and bothj of them
covered in black tiny dots. I am not sure what happend to them.

The weeked I have bought and added one new coral nothing did before that for a couple of month.
Coral looks like small palm trees or deisies. Not sure.

When I bought it the guy in the store added a couple of drops into the bag to kill flatworms. At home I also
used Tropical Marine Coral cure stuff to kill them. After that I moved coral into the tank.

I dont really know what to do, please help!

Sometimes called "black ich" this disease afflicts clownfish and seahorses almost exclusively. It is a tiny tiny parasitic worm with a lifecycle very similar to that of Ich. Treatment methods should be the same as with Ich and include quarantine with hyposalinity, or quarantine with copper treatment 0.2-0.3ppm.

Good luck

Thank you very much for your help.
I have this medicine already, is that good in my case?

any clue how it get there? with the coral?

Yes, that treatment will work. You'll NEED to QT them with as little rock and sand as possible and treat with copper in that tank. Sand and rocks absorb copper, removing it from the water colum, and diminishing its effectiveness. You want just a little bit of rock for bacteria, a small pump for flowrate, some plastic plants or pipework for hiding places, and if possible, a sponge filter for aeration. Then, treat with coppersafe as reccomended.

Do not treat with copper AND use hyposalinity.

Ok I understand,
My regulare QT setup is hang on filter for 20 gal tank, and MaxiJet 1200, heater and couple of pipes for hiding places.
I dont really have any live rock available or sponge filter. Will my setup work?

Also I read here http://www.wetwebmedia.com that sometimes fish might get black dots because of the stress? It possible
they got stressed while I was setting up a new coral? and it might go away.

My problem with the QT tank is that I am not that good at catching fish and I am afraid that by moving them to QT I can disturb them more. My rocks does not really let me to work with the net well :-((

Heh, yes, you read correctly that black marks can sometimes be coral stings. You'll know tomorrow... If they've spread, prolly the worms. If not, might just be the coral hosting. Your QT tank sounds fine :)

I read on the Net that clowns can get black spots when they host in xenia. I think my new coral is not xenia but it coral sure looks like it.

The dots started to show up after I moved corals into their favorite corner of the tank. If it is, now I moved coral into the very far corner, do you think the dots will disappear, or they are going to have them forever now?

Should I move coral out ot the tank?

Thanks a lot.

Here is a picture of the coral not sure what it is

Looks like it was coral stings. You never know... Fish feels very healthy even they still have black dots.
It looks like dots are going away but I am not sure. Hopefully they will be okay, because I am planning to add Bangai and sixline soon :).

Thank you.

well this sure got me paranoid, my clown has got 3 black spots on her, but theyve been there for about... 3 weeks (maybe even longer but i havent noticed) and it seems to be the same color as the stripes. Is it just a pigment that just decided to go to that spot, a coral sting (very possible because they host either the xenia or torch) or a bigger problem.

This is a just in case obviously. Both clowns are extremely healthy, very dark colors, and they eat like pigs.

P.S. glad to hear you again, you were helping me alot before and then kidna disappear :)

How old is your tank...seems like youi are moving very fast? SH

My tank is 6 month old. I dont think I am moving fast.
I even think I move too slow :)
I have only 2 fish and
5 corals. I add one coral a month apx. Tomorrow I am going to exchange my elegance
coral I had for 2 month. Its a gorgeous coral but became to big for my tank.

Next step I am going to take is slowly to ad 2 more fish Cardinal and Six line wrasse.
Change my lights to MH. These are my plans for the next 6 month.

What do u think?
Thanks.

six lines can be bullies later in life, so beware that. Otherwise sounds good
