I started off with 4 peppered corys after a full fishless cycle. for the last few days ive noticed a white 'lump' on the head of one of them, and now its spread to behind the eye. he seems ok, hasnt changed with it. last week a female guppy died - didnt find or see anything wrong with it. i added 6 orange/red platys yesterday and one of them seems to have a white patch towards the fin and dont think it will last the evening nevermind the night. i initially thought the cory had scraped his head on something but now im wondering if its something else. id be kinda suprised if it is whitespot cos i thought more fish would have it but all the rest seem fine.

any suggestions?

cheers

Whitespot look like the fish has been sprinkled in salt.
The lump on the head does it look hard of soft like filled with fluid. Also does the lump resemble a cauliflower.
The white patch does it look fluffy like cotton wool, or bleaching beneath the skin.
Any signs of flicking and rubbing.

How many gallons is the tank.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

is cotton wool cauliflower style. had a phonecall (im at work) and the cory is now dying :( no rubbing etc from any fish.

water for nitrIte, ammonia clear
nitrAte not much (barely turns the water pink)
ph around 8ish

removed a plant that looked like it had started to die too

tank and fish in sig :)
