So I got home today around 10pm from being at class since 12pm, cooked myself some dinner, and then thought I should cook some peas for my fish. So I go into my room and turn the light on. I look at my male gourami happily swimming about his tank, and then turning on the light to my female gourami's tank. I see that it doesn't look quite right...She greets me as she always does for food, but with a distinct lack of color and some dashes of red along the gills make me flip out and wonder how an NH3 spike occurred in my tank. Then it hits me, it's too quiet in the tank. I look down and the extension cord was turned off and none of the water pump or bubbler were on. I fell on the floor and desperately reached behind my desk to replug it back in, and after a few minutes I succeed. I have no idea how the extension cord got unplugged because really no one has any reason to go in my room which makes me extremely angry and suspicious of anyone who might have been in the house today, and I have no idea how long it was unplugged for. I would have been murderously angry if my gourami died because of someone else's negligence. She is just so intelligent and friendly.
I'm glad my gourami is doing better now that the remaining NH3 is hitting the filter. Anyone else have any experience where someone else almost slaughtered their fish?
