 Hi have been away for a few days went away on sunday afternoon fed my fish and turned the light off, and was coming back on wednesday tea time so didnt get anyone in the check on them, anyhow got in last night was a bit late and they was acting strange sort of laying on there sides and things turned my light and having good luck and my parrot fish, silver dollars was tilted to the side on the bottom of the tank the water temp was fine dont think i had power cut, my firemouth was all pale nearly white lost all colour, and my big cichlid made no movement at all , chucked some food and they just ignored it, after a while they all come round and seemed normal, and today the firemouth has all its colour back, is it just because i hadnt been at home for the light to be, kinda baffled me, thanks

don't know for sure, but i once turned my light on in the middle of the night and had 5 nasty looking little pale white fish. as i was standing there trying to figure out where the heck they came from they started getting a teensy bit of color back, just enough to realize they were my neon tetras. apparently they loose their color in the dark. maybe the same with yours. other than that, maybe they were sleeping?

lots of fish pale out at night and find a surface to rest on while they sleep, not sure about your fish specifically but it sounds likely. Did you turn the room light on for a few minutes before the tank light? This helps them wake up gently and might not be such a shock to them.
