:hi: Pleco

Ideal tank size for a newbie would be anything above 125 litres imo. Ideal starter fish - pair of clowns.

You need to do some research:

Live rock - filtration
Powerheads - flow
skimmer - yes or no
corals - yes or no
Cycle

and a few other things! Get yourself a pen and paper and go read some of the journels on here - they will help you with the set-up and general needs/wants of a salt box :good:

I agree with Seffie. Something like a Juwel rio 120 or180 is ideal. The reason being is that a larger tank has more water volume which means changes in the water chemistry occur at a slower rate and is therefore more forgiving to the newbie.

Other equipment you will need include a refractometer for measuring the salt content in the water and 3 test kits. One for ammonia, one for nitrites and one for nitrates. You can add to these test kits later to include a phosphate test kit and calcium too, although these aren't important unless you wish to keep corals.

As seffie has said, read through the journals and make notes of things. See how the process of setting up a tank is done and evolves. If there are things you don't understand, make a note of them and post back here.
