Yep working now.

Looking good, you just need to get the glosso(I think it is glosso in there  ) carpeting and it will look a treat :good:

thanks! :0)
have some HC cuba in the post as i type, as i think its a little lower maintainence than the glosso! :0)

That looks great! The wood really sets it off :D

It will just get better and better as it all grows in. Well done :D

do ppl think the plant mass is sufficient at this time?
should i add more stems to get thro the start up??

More stems or more water changes a week. Both should decrease ammonia in the initial start to prevent algae from gaining a foot hold.

looking good, it should look nice when it starts to fill out. About plant biomass... i would just buy some pond weed/ egeria densa and float that for a few weeks until the tanks settles.

ps. For future reference i wouldnt bother with the heating cable as they do not benefit the plants, 95% of planted tanks you see do not use them - even Takashi Amano doesnt!

Thanks

thanks for the input guys.

i did think about the floaters but didn't wanna add too many as i was worried about them cutting the light down to the rest of the tank, this i guess is not an issue then?
there is actually about 6 stems of egeria densa floating! ;0)

re the heater cable, i know of the whole debate around them and that amano doesn't use them. i figured tho, japan is a little warmer on average and possibly his tanks are not set up for that long.
if a heater cable did indeed increase the chances of having a successfull long term set up then i should prob have one from the outset! no retro fitting one of those!! ;0)
and besides i got the cable and controller dirt cheap, couldnt say no to it! ;0)

I would say the wood, being the main feature, should be further from the center of the tank - maybe 1/3 along? Just looks better to my eye
