First Plant Need Help

i just bought my first live plant for my discus tank its Cabomba but im confused because i bought it and its a bunch and the bottom which have very small roots has been tied with a cotton band like its made a bunch so i wanna ask that how should i plant it the same way i got it or i should open the bunch and plant it please rep in detail .. thanks

Take what ever is holding them together at the bottom off then plant the roots!
