First Fish - How Many

Hi all,

I plan on buying lepard danios as my first fish once i have finished the fishless cycle.

How many should i buy first off??

Depends on the size of your tank. Danios like to school and I found they may chase other fish, particularly if there are only 1-3 of them. They would not be able to hurt other fish, but the victims would be stessed by this and may become shy or even suseptible to disease as a result

Well they are shoaling fish so needs around 5 or more but you could mix them with zebra danios if you don't want them all the same because they are just colour morphs! this means that they are the same species but with a different pattern on them in case you didn't know as your'e a nuuubie!

Thanks for the replies, I have a 60L tank and i just wanted to check how many fish you could put in starting off, i want to try not to kill any fish

Yes that will be fine for those fish...they may be a little too active for that size tank but its Ok really. After that I would be careful how many others you put in to avoid overstocking if you eventually get different species
