So I've got the fish itch after a couple months without any fish. I got this rectangular display case a few days ago and plan to just move my malaysian trumpet snails(2 adults) to it and add a ghost shrimp or two. So not really any fish but the shrimp are interesting to watch. I don't normally use a filter in something this tiny but I was looking at all the fish stuff I still have and realized I still have all the equipment needed to make a basic UG filter. I will probably be changing to either black or white gravel but changing the gravel shouldn't be much of a problem due to it's small size. So I used a coiled up fake plant to create an air space underneath(needed right?) and then a piece of plastic canvas to create a grate for the gravel to set on. I cut a small slit to shove the tube from a sponge filter in and was done. Here's a pic showing the construction of it. I added more gravel afterwards.
