Hi, I have 5 angelfish in a 30G, soon all or some to be moved to a 4ft tank. 2 days ago i noticed one angelfish protecting eggs on the top of my heater and warding off any on her side of the tank. She only let one anglelfish get near the time i was watching and it started to eat them, until she forced it away. I assume the one protecting is the female and the one eating the male, or could it be the other way round? (i couldn't see from the genitals as i didn't see them spawn).
There were about 50eggs, i imagine the rest got burnt on the heater or eaten, only a couple were white. Could it be that she laid the eggs on her own? are the non white ones (more yellow/clear) definitely fertislised?
My ideal would be to move all the fish out except for the couple and let them breed again...but i'm not sure which is the pair...every now and then i think i've worked out a pair it seems to change...plus they look very similar! lol
