Do firemouth cichlids eat, destroy and or uproot plants?

Thankx. Do you know if a firemouth would be able to get along with kribensis and a severum?

Do they tend to be a little aggressive?

What do you have your firemouths with?

Most cichlids are earth movers by nature so if the plants are loosely placed in the substrate, then you may find a plant or two floating but I don't believe they will do it intentionally

My firemouths get along fine with my Severum
but if your worried about Firemouths eating plants then dont get a Severum - they arent called the Lawnmower for nothing. My 7 inch severum has eaten about 60 quids worth of plants this year - so much so I have given up with planted tank now cos he just destroys everything green

My severum doesn't really eat plants except when I miss a feed. It let's me know when it's hungry. And even then he only pecks at the plants. Maybe because he's only about three inches right now. But I'm trying not to feed them right know because I want to lower ammonia and stop overfeeding.

My severum didnt bother with the plants until a few months ago when he reached about 2-2.5 years old and then he went on a feeding frenzy and all my fish get fed a small amount morning and evening

firemouths do dig in the substrate a bit but nothing really to worry about, and they should be fine with a krib
