Firemouths

need some info please after buying two that where labelled under the wrong name at the lfs

ie how do you sex them?
also do they eat snails as all the snails has disappered?
what else do they like to eat apart from flakes??
what size will they grow to?

I had some firemouths awhile back. there pretty neat fish with a lot of character. they grow to around six inches. I tried to keep them in a thirty gallon but eventually had to move them to a 55g. they can get pretty aggresive especially towards their own kind. I fed mine flakes, pellets, frozen brine shrimp, and guppies (which i raised myself in a ten gallon). and i think that they do eat snails cus mine also dissapeared shortly after i put in the firemouths. they're one of my favorite fish and i plan on getting some for my 120g soon. hope that helped some.
