My male betta ripped into my female a few weeks ago after an ill fated breeding atempt. she lives in a different part of the tank (it has two perspex dividers) and after treatment with melafix her sides and fins are on the mend. My question is this. will her finns and scales grow back and make her look the same as before? i have seen my kribs regrow fins but i can't remember if chunks were missing or if they were just split. any advice?

Yes they should grow back.
Split fins heal on there own in good water quality, if there no big gaps.
If chunks are missing it can mean that a fish has been attacking there fins, damage to fins due to plants or ornaments in the tank, bacterial finrot.
Sometimes filter can damage fins if the fish got sucked into the filter.

no it was definately the male when i tried breeding there are chunks missing and the tank is kept clean and a can't see any other infection...

That ok then.
Thought you meant some other fish had chunks missing too.
