I have two bettas in a divided 34 litre tank. Tankmates are two otos and two amano shrimp.

Both the bettas are suffering from finrot. One had it when I bought him and I thought he was beginning to improve, but now the other fish has it quite badly :( His fins look like they have been shredded

I will go to lfs tomorrow morning - please could you advise what I should get, and whether it is safe for the other tank occupants? I do have another tank which I could shift the otos and shrimp into, but I'm not sure if it will be a great move for the otos as it is a new tank with very little algae as yet.

where do you live...different meds in US and UK, firstly keep doing regular water changes and keep water crystal clear.....even daily if you have to, this helps finrot!

I am in the UK, and my lfs is Maidenhead Aquatics, if that helps.

how bad have the fins receded so far?

if it's not overly bad yet you may just want to keep the water very clean and add some aquarium salt, but if it continues or is quite bad you need to get some sort of med, like myxazin by waterlife which should stop it spreading

Thanks for the advice. I am treating with aquarium salt and myxazin. I'm on day 3 of treatment and no visible improvement yet but the fish are still eating and swimming around, so hopefully they will be fine. The aquarium salt does seem to have made the water cloudy, but I'll deal with that with water changes once the fish are improving.
