For hte last 2 weeks or so, since ive seen my betta diagnosed with finrot, ive added a slight bit of aquarium alt, and doing 30% water changes bidaily, but to no vail, also ive been putting a bit of antibiotics in bit by bit(yes i removed hte filters carbon), ive seen steady improvement, but today i visited walmart earlier(female bettas in dixie cups, and male bettas in cups about 3x the size of female cups(6 females, if the 10 gal was free i wouldve bought htem alll) , =/ thats horrible still though) and i purchased some bettafix by splendid betta, would this be a good treatment for my betta, also im planning to move him to a temp .5 gal bowl for treatment

I treated mine with Pimafix and Melafix but only use about half of the recommended dose. It's a 7 day treatment and the water will need changing at the end of it. It worked for my little boy and his fins started to grow back after a few weeks.
Good luck.

i see , but ill probably do a 7 day treatment in his .5 gallon bowl for a week, then move him back into the 2 gal and have hte water in there somewhat treated...
but thanks stang

I can't help you out, I can't remember the names of the types of medicine I get for my fish, but they don't come from walmart. I currently don't have a hospital tank, but I want to get one some time soon and take on the fish that they treet so horribly at the walmart in our town and try to nurse them back to health. I don't know what I'll do with them after that though. Mabey I'll try selling them online for a little more then I bought them for. It's worth a shot!! I feel bad for the pore guys:(

I'd like to make a suggestion..
I wouldn't use melafix on your bettas - The tea tree oil coats their gills and makes it hard for them to breathe. It's generally not suggested for Bettas.. I would use the natural method of clean water, aquarium salt and IAL/BWE for finrot treatment instead of melafix. It's very bad for them..

no its not melafix, the actual medicine is BettaFix remedy by Aquarium Pharmeceuticals, and ive done some searching up and i think its a good cure, and seeing as how on the the thing it says made especially for bettas

Bettafix is a watered down version of Melafix sold at a higher price.. It's essentially the same thing, and I would still avoid it..
There are easier, better ways to treat fin rot :)

lol at the moment i jsut use clean water and salt in the water, but otherwise ive seen no improvement, ill try the 7 day dose thing though
