Been doing a fishless cycle since mid fed, results for last few days had been spot on so i did a large water change 75-80% cleaned out the tank of algee re-filled tank and turned temp back down and dosed with ammo over night as i had planned to stock with fish today, tested this afternoon and got these results

ammonia-0.0
nitrite 0.5
nitrate 110 ish
tank ph 7.7

its a 70 gal tank and i`m well dissapointed as i thought i`d be adding some fish today, btw just pulled out a couple sick looking plants could these be the reason for my results and what do i do now, more water changes? thanks for any advice

Did you add enough dechlorinator when you did your big water change?
Did you add exactly the same amount of ammonia as you were doing b4?
Did you give your tank the same amount of time to cycle the ammonia?
Did you leave filter off for ages before filling up?

Cant think of any other reason that have made your bacteria appear to have died off.

1-used aqua plus about 4 capfuls per 15 gal
2- yes same amount of ammo as before
3- yes gave tank the same amount of time
4-filter was off for about 30 min

before i did my large water change a week befor i changed my filter(it was on the way out) but i`d put most of the old media into the new filter could this be the reason and am i looking at starting all over again, thanks for your help/sugestions

Maybe. Bacteria grow mainly in media but also on filter sponge, filter wool, on pipes leading to filter, in the mechanism itself, basically throughout the whole filter system. You may well have lost some when you changed over. Dont think youll be starting from scratch thou as most bacteria will be in the media you moved over. Dont give up. It will be over eventually. :fun:
