hi all

on the leaves of most of my valls, theres like a fine white lookin hair growing all over them. is this hair algae? is it dangerous? should i remove it? if so hoiw?

cheers

Hi,

Discovered exactly the same problem in my tank at the weekend - went to lfs and it's apparently hair algae, so recommended/bought some Interpet Anti Hair Algae which you dose once a week for 4 weeks. Told not harmful, but can get out of control/damage plants if not treated, although you can just brush it off of plants, but still need to treat.

Finger's crossed it'll work.

Kim

hey

thanx for the reply KimA, i'll have to look around for some of that hair algae treatment stuff.

Shrimp are the best treatment for hair and thread algae, but can be quite expensive if its a large tank.

would those cheap shrimp you can sometimes find as feeder shrimp do that job? there little clear 1z, i think there called glass shrimp or something. coz there the only 1z i can find here in perth

Never heard on glass shrimp, you want the Amano shrimp, their scientific name is Caridina japonica
