soo a few years back i would always go down to my grandparents house in oklahoma. the creeks are crystal clear and spring fed. before i was a fishkeep i would always get a snorkle and some goggles, then lay on the bottom of the creeks and snoop through the rocks. i remember finding some tiny bright blue catfish. like .5 inches long. they had crazy patterns too. also i remember finding a couple of goby type fish. always under an inch but were everywhere!!
when the creeks would dry up i would always find the tiny catfish stranded in pools of water...i would save as many as i could find!
now that i think about it...i would i could go back and catch these tiny fish. ive never heard of anyone talking about them...and most native fish are more "native looking". not having the cool patterns, body types, and colors.
