Hi All,

Finally transferred my 8 baby / young platies to the big one. I moved them last night.

They are not eating.......

Ive tried tetra wafer mix.... the ones that sink to the bottom

Ive tried tropical flakes, but they also go to the bottom and the fish swim around them....

Please advise.....

Thanks,

Dave

They could just be a little stressed. Don't worry and more importantly don't put any more food in for a day. Keep tank lights off for 12 hour minimum and they should be fine in no time

They'll find something to eat most likely. Tiny particles of the food will float around too and the platies just wait under a leaf or similar hide out and snatch it :) I don't think I've seen fry that live with adults come up to the surface with the rest of the fish, not until they grow and are confident but mine seem to be doing fine like that, unless you really feed very scarcely or your adults are cannibals.
Your tank looks lovely and has plenty of hiding spots so I wouldn't worry too much.

stop worrying so much, give them time to adjust to the new tank....

i wouldnt worry about it unless they go 7+ days without eating

thank everyone for your helpful tips. lights are off and food left over which they never ate have been removed to reduce poluting the water.

Kind regards all,

before anyone adds that the glass looks dirty, i was told by a guy at my LFS to leave the glass alone for a week or so until the the fish settle in. some tasty food might have build up on the glass.

i would just leave them alone and not feed them for 2 more days

i wouldnt skip feeding a fry but i have just moved them to a new tank and they are not eating..... so everyone has suggested to miss feeding a day to save just polluting the water.

Thanks all for your cooments
